One rainy night, the little bridge in broke.
It was the bridge that connected the market to the strawberry field.
In the morning, Ohm, Ori, Ciar and Cari went to see it.
The water was calm again.
But the bridge was gone.
Only a few wet sticks were left near the stream.
“Oh no,” said Cari.
“Now nobody can cross,” said Ori.
Ohm looked at the stream and then at his friends.
“We can build a new bridge,” he said.
Ciar smiled.
“Yes. Let’s do it together.”
The four friends started to work.
Ohm looked for strong sticks.
Ori found long roots and soft vines.
Ciar carried flat pieces of bark.
Cari brought leaves and small flowers.
They made a neat pile near the water.
First, Ohm placed the biggest sticks across the stream.
“These will hold the bridge,” he said.
Ori tied the sticks with vines.
She worked slowly and carefully.
“Now they stay together,” she said.
Ciar put the flat bark on top.
“This makes a path to walk on,” he said.
Cari added leaves on the sides.
Then she placed a few small flowers there too.
“A bridge can be pretty,” she said with a smile.
The friends stepped back and looked.
The bridge was almost ready.
Ohm tested it first.
He walked across slowly.
The bridge stayed strong.
Then Ori crossed.
Then Ciar.
Then Cari.
They all laughed on the other side.
Mayor Antonia came down the path and saw the new bridge.
Her eyes grew wide.
“You did this together?” she asked.
Ohm nodded.
“Yes. We all helped.”
Mayor Antonia smiled.
“It is strong,” she said.
“And beautiful,” said Cari.
“And useful,” said Ori.
“And ready,” said Ciar.
Soon the people of crossed the bridge again.
They carried baskets to the market.
They walked to the strawberry field.
Everyone was happy.
Ohm looked at his friends.
“One friend can do a little,” he said.
“But friends together can do a lot,” said Ori.
Cari touched one of the flowers on the bridge.
“We made something good,” she said.
Ciar grinned.
“Yes. And we made it together.”
