They had small baskets full of seeds.
The seeds would grow into flowers and vegetables.
Ohm made little holes in the soil.
Ori carried the seed basket carefully.
Ciar patted the earth flat with his hands.
Cari counted the seeds one by one.
Everything was going well.
Then Cari stopped.
She looked into the basket.
She looked at the ground.
She looked at her friends.
“Oh no,” she said. “One seed is missing.”
Ori came closer.
“Are you sure?” she asked.
Cari nodded.
“Yes. I counted them before. Now one is gone.”
Ciar looked around the garden.
“Maybe the wind moved it,” he said.
Ohm smiled in a calm way.
“Then we will find it together.”
The four friends started to search.
Ori looked near the basket.
Ohm checked the fresh soil.

They searched between leaves.
They searched near the watering can.

But the little seed was not there.
“Maybe it rolled away,” said Ori.
Ciar pointed to a patch of grass.
“Let’s look over there.”
They walked to the side of the garden.
There was a big green leaf near the fence.
It moved softly in the breeze.
Cari bent down slowly.
She lifted the leaf.
Under it was the missing seed.
“I found it!” she said.
Ori smiled.
“It was hiding.”
Ciar laughed.
“Not for long.”
Ohm took a small trowel.
He made a new hole in the soil.
Cari placed the seed inside very carefully.
Ori covered it with soft earth.
Ciar brought a little water.
Together, they planted the lost seed at last.
Mayor Antonia walked by the garden and saw their happy faces.
“Did something good happen?” she asked.
Ohm nodded.
“We lost a seed,” he said, “but we found it together.”
