The wind moved softly through the forest of , carrying the scent of moss and rain. Ohm, Ori, Ciar and Cari walked without hurry, enjoying the quiet path before sunset.
Quiet, in , rarely stayed quiet for long.
Ciar stopped beside a large stone covered in green moss.
“Did you hear that?” he asked.
“Hear what?” said Ori.
“Something under the stone,” Ciar replied. “Like paper moving.”
Cari knelt carefully and brushed the moss aside. “There is something here.”
Ohm and Ciar pushed together. The stone was heavy, but it shifted just enough to reveal a small hollow beneath.
Inside, they found an old metal tin.
Ori opened it slowly.
Inside was a folded paper.
Ohm unfolded it. “It is a map.”
The drawing showed part of the forest: a stream, a crooked tree, and a hill shaped like a sleeping beetle. In one corner, a small symbol had been drawn — a circle with three lines around it.
At the bottom, only four words:
When shadows meet, begin.
Ciar smiled. “Now this is interesting.”
“Then we follow it properly,” said Ohm.
“And together,” added Cari.
They crossed the stream on flat stones, found the crooked tree, and climbed the hill exactly as the map showed.
The sun was already low.
Long shadows stretched across the ground.
Ohm looked around slowly. “When shadows meet…”
Ori pointed. “There.”
The shadow of the tree and a tall rock joined in one dark shape. At that point, the soil looked slightly disturbed.
Ciar dug carefully. Cari cleared the loose earth. Ohm lifted a thin piece of bark hidden beneath the surface.
Below it, they found a small wooden box.
No one spoke for a moment.
Ori opened it.
Inside, there was no treasure.
Only a compass with cracked glass, and a folded note.
Ohm read:
If you found this, you followed the path with patience, shared the work, and trusted each other.
The compass is not for finding treasure, but for remembering how to travel well.
Cari looked at the lid of the box. “There is something else.”
The same symbol was carved inside.
Below it, one final sentence:
The best paths are the ones friends discover together.
The wind moved gently across the hill.
Ori smiled. “So this was never about the box.”
Ohm nodded. “Or the compass.”
Ciar looked at the horizon. “It was the path.”
Cari held the compass carefully. “And how we followed it.”
They walked back toward as the sky turned gold, carrying the compass between them — not as a prize, but as a reminder.
And somewhere behind them, the forest kept its quiet secrets, waiting for the next ones who would know how to listen.
